It's inevitable that if there is a new production of Doctor Who, that the Doctor must return to his homeplanet of Gallifrey. I thought I'd continue a theme that I started in the "If (and when)" page. This time I'm focusing on Gallifrey. I happen to like the Doctor's homeplanet and I always enjoy stories like "Deadly Assassin" and "The Arc of Infinity". Here's a list of people I would like to see in a story set on Gallifrey. With the release of the Eighth Doctor audio's, Paul McGann has proven he is the perfect pick for the Doctor. So this whole senario is set around the Eighth Doctor's return to television. Madame President Lalla Ward It started out in the Virgin NA's, continued into BBC Book and now has been realized in Big Finish's audio adventures. I think it would be fun to see Madame President Romana make the great leap to television. Whether she'd be on the Doctor's side or not, is another story. Chancellor
John Cleese A long overdue member of Timelord society. Nobody plays tall imposing elder statesman figures better than John Cleese. I can't imagine someone who would be more perfect to appose the Doctor's renegade ways. Cardinal Stephen Fry Another tall, staunch figure but perhaps more amiable than the Chancellor, but a bit on the condescnding. I see Stephen Fry's character as someone from the Doctor's academy days who unlike the Doctor made his way up the Timelord ladder. Castillan Jonathan Pryce My reasoning: This time the Master who's current form is deteriorating steals the Castillan's body and all his future regenerations making him a full blood Timelord again. Keeper of the Matrix Leo McKern With most of the High Council typically against him, The Doctor needs one person on his side like Coordinator Engrin in "The Deadly Assassin'. Who better than Leo McKern. Commander of the Chancellory Guard Hugh Grant Colin Baker went from guard to Doctor, why not the other way around. I think Hugh's dashing enough to be in charge of the Chancellory Guards. Sting Rather rugged and heroic looking. He's also played a few science-fiction and military roles in movies like "Dune" and the very short cameo as the heroic soldier in "The Adventures of Baron Munchausen". I could see him as head of the guards as well. The Celestial Intervention Agency I'm assuming according to "The Deadly Assassin" the three Timelords from "The War Games" are the Celestial Intervention Agency. With that said, here are the three people I see spearheading the agency Gene Wilder Gillian Anderson Kevin Kline The Mysterious Fourth Member of the C.I.A. Yes, yes, yes I know. But we need some way for the Master to make his way back to Gallifrey so why not have him somehow work his way into the C.I.A.? Since Kevin Kline plays weasely characters so well with movie's like "Fierce Creatures", I could see his character being manipulated by The Master. |
